Artist Statement:
My work deals with the complexity and interpersonal relationships people have with self-perception. After all, the way the public views someone is always different from how a person perceives themselves. A major part of my research is understanding the complexities of being human and involves spending my time talking to a variety of people- from those who are shy and self-conscious to those who are gregarious and outgoing. The physical manifestation of our deepest fears should be powerful, but I think showcasing our insecurities is more horrifying than any scary movie. Self-hatred and how it can lead us to bettering ourselves are the aspects of being human that I strive to address within my work as an artist.
